What is the Chemo Chic Project?

Our vision is to create a brilliant resource for anyone affected by the trauma of cancer – friends and family included. If you feel you have a story that can inspire others, or just some good practical tips, then we would love your contribution.

If you, or someone you love is experiencing cancer now or has experienced cancer in the past then you have something to offer to the Chemo Chic Project.

The Chemo Chic Project is about living well now. It’s about looking great despite our hair falling out. It’s about eating delicious and health-giving food. It’s about getting through the tears and laughter that each day brings, sharing the load and helping one another. Being Chemo Chic is surviving cancer with style.

  1. I was diagnosed with breast cancer in April, just had a lumpectomy 2 weeks ago, and found out today that I will need chemo in addition to radiation… I’m young, about to finish my PhD, was going to get engaged this year, and now I feel like my life is falling apart…I’m not even married yet and I have to look at infertility, freezing eggs, adoption? I’m in love with this wonderful man, and now Im afraid of what the next several months will be like for me, him, us..my family has been emotionally wrecked…
    I’m overwhelmed…I don’t know how to face it all…

    • So very sorry to hear this Indhushree. There is no denying that receiving a cancer diagnosis is devastating and life shattering. But it WILL get better. Try to find as much support as you can – friends, nurses, family members, counsellors… there are so many people able and willing to share your load. There is an overwhelming amount of new and unwelcome information to be assimilated, just take it one day at a time. Talk to people about your fears and feelings and ask questions. If you feel you want to write then you can do it here on Chemo Chic – that is why it is here. And don’t be afraid to cry if you need to. If you can’t cry now, when can you? But also laugh, there will be much love, and absurdity ahead as well as tears.
I wish you well and hope that you will keep us updated with your progress.
